Oops! Thief Shoots Himself After Armed Robbery

BAKERSFIELD (AP) ― Police say a Cal State Bakersfield fraternity fireworks booth was robbed at gunpoint Friday night but they were able to catch the suspect who accidentally shot himself in the leg following the heist.

Bakersfield police Lt. Mike Cantrell says the suspected robber, Patrick Horn, stuck a pistol in a clerks face at the booth and ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police caught up with the robber who had accidentally shot himself in the leg before fleeing on foot.

Cantrell says Horn was transported to Kern Medical Center.

Cantrell says Horn will be charged with robbery, an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
