Firefighters are working to douse a brush fire that has erupted on the Palos Verdes Peninsula near Crenshaw Boulevard.
Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Sam Padilla says a car crash sparked the fire shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. It has burned at least three acres and initially threatened several homes.
Water-dropping Super Scoopers are being used to contain the flames and firefighters hosed burning brush while standing by backyard swimming pools.
A week ago, a 100-acre fire spread rapidly in Rancho Palos Verdes on the south Los Angeles County coast, forcing as many as 1,500 people to flee from their homes.
There were as many as 100 firefighters on the scene in addition to the two Super Scoopers.
