Brush Fire Near Lancaster Scorches 450 Acres

 FIRE WATCH: Complete Fire Coverage

 SLIDESHOW: Griffith Park Fires

GREEN VALLEY (AP) ― Officials say a wildfire in the Angeles National Forest has burned through 450 acres of dry brush.

The blaze was 15 percent contained Monday morning as it burned steep terrain in a canyon southwest of the small town of Green Valley, about 25 miles west of Lancaster, a Forest Service dispatcher said.

The fire broke out at about noon Sunday, and nearly 500 firefighters have been battling the blaze with the help of water-dropping aircraft, fire spokeswoman Lisa Lugo said.

No structures were immediately threatened and no injuries have been reported.

The fire's cause was under investigation.

Full containment was expected by Wednesday.
