Ex-Teacher Gets 6 Years In Fed Pen For Kiddie Porn
LOS ANGELES
A former first-grade teacher was sentenced Monday to more than six years in prison for possessing child pornography.
Kenneth Edward Kothe, 61, of Alhambra, who taught first-grade at the Lincoln Elementary School in Lynwood, was ordered to serve 6 and one-half years in federal prison as well as being given 10 years of supervised release after he serves his term.
He must also register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
Kothe will also have to get permission from the court or a probation officer to teach children.
Back in April, Kothe pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of child porn.
The former teacher was arrested last November in connection with a federal Internet child porn investigation. Agents took him into custody when he was leaving school.
Prosecutors said Kothe had stored at least 114 images and 13 video files of child porn on his home computer's external hard drive. Agents reportedly also seized two bins filled with other pornographic images of underage youth as well as four ounces of marijuana.
He stored the images in a file folder labeled, "XXX", according to prosecutors.
