A woman Tuesday was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for driving her son and his friends to a park where a 13-year-old boy was stabbed to death in a revenge attack.
Long Beach Superior Court Judge Arthur Jean denied the defense's request for a new trial for 31-year-old Eva Daley, who was convicted of second-degree murder on Oct. 6 in the June 25, 2007, slaying of Jose Cano.
Heriberto Garcia, now 17, was also convicted of second-degree murder for repeatedly stabbing Cano.
Five other youths, including Daley's son, also admitted a manslaughter charge in juvenile court and were sent to the California Youth Authority, where they can be held until age 25. The case of another youth is still pending in juvenile court.
In his closing argument, Deputy District Attorney John Lonergan told jurors that Daley knew something was going to happen that night.
