2 Officers Recovering After Movie Theater Shootout

Suspect Killed In El Segundo Shooting

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) ― Two police officers are recovering Saturday after a shootout at an El Segundo movie theater that killed the gunman.

Police say one officer was shot in the jaw and another in the shoulder but they're in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the officers were called to the Pacific Beach Cities Stadium 16 theater around 10 Friday night by an employee.

A man had gotten into what's being termed a "business dispute" with theater workers.

The officers were searching the man in the lobby when he pulled a gun and began firing.

Authorities say the wounded officers fired back. Jonathan Taylor, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers searched in and around the theater for companions of the gunman and took two men into custody at a nearby parking structure.

However, they were released and police later said they were not believed to have been involved in the shooting.
