LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown plans to file a paternity suit against actor Eddie Murphy, an attorney said Wednesday.

A DNA test proved Murphy is the father of Brown's 3-month-old daughter, Angel, but the actor has not legally acknowledged paternity, Brown's attorney Gloria Allred said in a statement. Brown and Allred plan to announce details of their lawsuit Wednesday afternoon.

Allred said she and Brown will discuss what they say are the actor's "shocking and appalling conduct since he learned Ms. Brown was pregnant" as well as "the role that single fathers like Murphy should play in the lives of their children."

Brown, 32, dated Murphy, 46, last year and has said she was heartbroken that the actor denied paternity. She listed Murphy as the father on Angel's birth certificate.

Brown also has an 8-year-old daughter. Murphy has five other children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy.

Shortly after taking the paternity test, Murphy, asked if he would support Angel if he was the father, replied, "Absolutely. I'll do the right thing."
