The school was evacuated, but no injuries were reported.
East Los Angeles College was evacuated Thursday because of a natural gas leak in front of the school, authorities said.
"There have been no reported injuries, and the closure is merely a safety measure," college President Ernest Moreno said in a statement.
Cesar Chavez Avenue was also shut down to traffic while a utility crew repaired the leak.
The campus was scheduled to reopen Friday, Moreno said.
