Police announced the arrest Thursday of two men wanted in connection with the fatal hit and run of a 9-year-old boy in East Los Angeles earlier this month.
Jesus Sanchez was fatally injured about 12:05 a.m. June 1 as he tried to
cross Ford Boulevard at Cesar Chavez Avenue with his family, the California Highway Patrol reported.
On Tuesday, officers arrested the 28-year-old alleged motorist, who was
booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and manslaughter, said California Highway Patrol Officer Luis Mendoza.
On Wednesday, Luis Olivarez, also 28, of Montebello, was booked on
suspicion of evidence tampering.
Olivarez was released after posting $20,000 bail, the sheriff's department reported.
After the death, investigators released security video that showed the
vehicle hitting the boy.
