Magnitude 3.1 Earthquake Hits Off California Coast

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) ― A small offshore earthquake rattled Southern California beaches, but no damage or injuries were reported, police said.

The magnitude-3.1 temblor struck at about 12:09 a.m. Tuesday and was centered 15 miles from town, according to preliminary estimates from the U.S. Geological Survey.
