1 Man Dead, 1 Woman Wounded In Drive-By Attack

LOS ANGELES Officials say one man was killed and a woman was wounded after they were shot Sunday evening by an unknown assailant in a drive-by attack.

The man was gravely wounded but later died at an area hospital.

A woman injured in the shooting was being treated for a wound to the abdomen, according to authorities. She is in critical condition and believed to be in her teens.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of W. 97th Street about 9:15 p.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Sara Faden.

The name of the victim, who was in his 30s, was withheld, pending notification of next of kin, said Ed Winter of the coroner's office.

No arrests were immediately reported, Faden said.
