Boy, 11, And Man Shot In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES A child and a teenager were killed tonight in an apparent gang-related shooting near the Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles, police said.

Steven Munoz, 11, and an 19-year-old man were sitting with a group of
people around 8:30 p.m. near Connecticut and Valencia streets, just south of Olympic Boulevard, when someone in a passing grey Honda fired multiple shots at them, said Officer Karen Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Both victims fled. The child was able to make it down the street where he collapsed, and the 19 year old ran into an alley. They were later found outside an apartment building in the 1400 block West 11th Street, Smith said.

They were taken to a hospital, where both were pronounced dead, she said.

Witnesses said another person was shot, possibly in the foot, but police
have been unable to locate that person.

It was unknown whether the boy and the teen were related.
