8 Arrested In Torrance Mall Brawl, 4 Injured

TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) ― Police say eight people were arrested and four sustained minor injuries, including an officer, during a brawl at the Del Amo Fashion Center.

 

Torrance police Lt. Lloyd Degonia says the fight broke out at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at the AMC Theaters in the shopping mall between two groups of young men and women.

 

Degonia says the fight involved the eight people arrested plus several others who ran away when police arrived, but the crowd rapidly grew with onlookers. Police from various jurisdictions arrived to assist Torrance police on the scene.

 

Degonia says one officer received a minor wound to the knee, while three people were taken to the hospital after police used Taser stun guns to subdue the assailants.

 

Police do not believe the incident was gang related.
