A spurned boyfriend has been charged with killing his ex's father and wounding her mother and brother after storming the family's Irvine home during a weekend hostage drama.
Investigators said 24-year-old Alwyn Gibson II of Fairfield, Tex., stormed the home and held the family hostage for five hours before surrendering early Saturday.
Gibson is charged with special circumstances first-degree murder for the shooting death of 60-year-old De Ngoc Le and the attempted murders of 22-year-old Michael Le and 47-year-old Ly Le.
Investigators said Gibson, a former prison guard, was upset over breaking up with his girlfriend, who didn't live in the Le family home and wasn't there during the shootings.
Gibson grew up the Fallbrook area of San Diego County.
