Orange County Sheriff's Deputies responding to a reckless driving call Friday found an individual acting suspicious at the Dana Point Post Office.
The man, who dropped off an envelope, was wearing rubber gloves at the time and was acting strange, according to postal workers.
Deputies followed him to a nearby restaurant where he was detained.
According to Lt. Mark Levy, the man said he was in a rush to get to the post office before it closed. He said he had been doing yard work earlier and forgot that he was wearing the gloves.
The facility was evacuated while a bomb squad and the OCFA Hazmat were called to inspect the envelope. The envelope and a box left underneath the counter at the post office were cleared.
The mail will be repackaged and sent out.
