Man Pleads Not Guilty To Burning His Kids To Death

LOS ANGELES A man who allegedly set fire to an SUV, killing his 11-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to double murder charges.

Dae Kwon Yun, 57, is accused of placing his daughter, Ashley, and son, Alexander, inside his Toyota Sequoia on April 2, 2006, and setting it on fire in a secluded alley in the Los Angeles Garment District.

Yun, who was found outside the vehicle by responding firefighters, suffered several second- and third-degree burns.

Detectives believe Yun had financial and marital problems. He and his wife, Sun Ok Ma, separated about two weeks before the fire, police said.

Along with the two murder charges, Yun is accused of the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder during the commission of arson.

Prosecutors have not decided if they will seek a death sentence against Yun, who remains jailed without bail.

He is due back at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse Sept. 10 for a pretrial hearing.
