DUI Suspect Slams Into Sheriff's Patrol Car

COMPTON A woman's car plowed into the side of a sheriff's patrol car in Compton and the motorist was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Saturday, a sergeant said.

The accident on Alameda Street near the Gardena (91) Freeway occurred about 1 a.m. when a woman driving south on Alameda crossed onto the wrong side of the road and struck the driver's door on the patrol car, sheriff's Sgt. Douglas Iketani told news Newsreel.

The name of the suspect was withheld.

A female deputy sheriff was taken to a hospital to be examined, and another deputy in the vehicle could be seen limping after the wreck, Newsreel reported.

Two other vehicles reportedly were involved in the wreck, but no other injuries or arrests were reported.
