Big Gulp! Teen Crashes Car Into Covina 7-Eleven
COVINA
Police say an 18-year-old driver crashed his car into a 7-Eleven in Covina and fled the scene.
The teen was arrested about a half-mile away and booked on suspicion of felony DUI, according to authorities.
Cipriano Gaxiola was being held in the crash of his Escalade at 1075 N. Grand Ave., which occurred about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, said Covina police Sgt. Gregg Peterson.
A man and two teenage girls also fled the vehicle but they were not arrested, he said.
A store employee was working at a freezer when the Escalade smashed into it, Peterson said.
The employee was taken to a hospital with minor injuries to an arm and shoulder.
Gaxiola was in the Covina jail on $100,000 bail, he said.
Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday at Citrus Superior Court, Peterson said.
