2nd Victim Of Hollywood Crash Dies From Burns

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―

Authorities sought the public's help in the search for a driver of a vehicle involved in a suspected street race that killed two men in Hollywood.

The second person, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead from severe burns at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

That victim had been a passenger in a car apparently driven by a person who was making a turn on Sunset Boulevard when the Infiniti they were riding in was hit by a speeding BMW.

Although the driver's corpse was burned beyond recognition, broadcast reports said the car had been driven by Nigel Guidry, 26. Coroner's investigators were working to confirm Guidry's identity.

Los Angeles Police allege the BMW's driver, Carlos Steven John, 21, was drunk. They believe he had been racing his dark grey BMW 521i against black BMW, which sped away after the grinding crash.

Gudray's 2007 Infiniti burst into flames almost immediately, its two occupants were unable to get out. Its passenger was pulled out of the burning car by a witness and hospitalized until succumbing to the burns Sunday morning.

John's BMW also struck a Saturn Ion, but the woman driving it was not seriously hurt.

John was booked on suspicion of murder and jailed in lieu of $1 million bail in connection with the crash.

Anyone with information on the second driver was asked to call police at (213) 473-0234.
