Fire officials say a 5-year-old girl was thrown through a plate-glass window by a car that crashed into a strip mall in Woodland Hills.
The crash was reported at 2:50 p.m. at 22864 W. Ventura Blvd., according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The girl was taken to UCLA Medical Center by helicopter in serious condition, Scott said. No other injuries were reported.
The driver may have confused the accelerator for the brake.
