Coyote Attacks Girl Playing In Front Yard

Attack Is Third Incident in Five Days

LAKE ARROWHEAD, Calif. (AP) ― Another coyote attack on a Southern California toddler.

A coyote grabbed a 2-year-old girl by the head and tried to drag her from her front yard near Lake Arrowhead. Authorities say it was the third such incident in the region in five days.

Authorities say the coyote attacked when the girl's mother Melissa Rowley briefly went inside the house.

Rowley returned to find the coyote dragging her daughter toward a street. She ran toward her daughter, and the animal released the girl and ran away.

The toddler was taken to the hospital and treated for several punctures to the head and neck area, but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Traps have been set for the coyote, but it has not yet been caught.
