Coble Family Fights For Stricter Trucking Laws

Comment On 11th Hour Trucking Regulations, Docket #19608

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Getting drowsy on the road is a common occurrence, especially for truck drivers who have been behind the wheel for 11 hours straight.

After the devastating death of their three young children, who died after a big rig rear-ended their family minivan last year, Chris and Lori Coble are facing off with Washington lawmakers to try and change trucking regulations.

An exclusive investigation found problems with trucker logbooks, inconsistencies in how people track their hours behind the wheel and concerns that truckers are being pushed to do too much to make a living. Sometimes these shortcuts have deadly consequences.

CBS 2's Pat Harvey catches up with the Coble family for the full story on their very personal battle.
