1 Dead, 2 Would-Be Robbers Nabbed In Coachella

COACHELLA, Calif. (CBS) ― Three men who tried to rob a Coachella market got more than they bargained for Friday when one was shot dead by a clerk and the other
two were arrested, according to the Sheriff's Department.
 
The men, at least one of whom was armed, entered the Y & M market on
Second Street about 11:30 a.m., said Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the
Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

One was fatally shot by a clerk and the other two fled, she said.
 
They were later taken into custody, she said.
 
The clerk was unharmed and was not arrested.

The store has been robbed before according to broadcast reports.
