Man Arrested In Fatal Christmas Eve Stabbing
RIVERSIDE, Calif.
Police arrested a man that they believe to be responsible for the Christmas Eve stabbing death of a Riverside man, according to police.
Jose Carlos Bonilla, 28, of Riverside, faces a charge of suspicion of murder and is being held on a state parole violation charge at Robert Presley Detention Center, a sheriff's spokeswoman said.
Manuel Sanchez-Rosas, 42, was fatally stabbed the evening of Dec. 24 near Philbin Avenue and Rutland Avenue, east of La Sierra Hills in Riverside, police said.
Police found Sanchez-Rosas unconscious, bleeding from multiple stab wounds. Emergency paramedics took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
After a lengthy investigation that included surveillance, police apprehended Bonilla Friday evening at a home on Jones Avenue in Riverside.
Bonilla's bail was set at $1 million, although, he cannot be released because of the probation violation, the sheriff's spokeswoman said.
