Coyote Nearly Drags Toddler Away In Chino Hills

CHINO HILLS, Calif. (AP) ― A 14-month-old girl is recovering from wounds she suffered in an attack by a coyote in a San Bernardino County park.

A sheriff's spokeswoman says the little girl was at Altura Park in Chino Hills this morning with her nanny when the caretaker heard the child scream. The nanny saw the coyote with the child in its mouth, grabbed the child and was able to pull her away.

The coyote then ran off.

A child was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center where she was treated for multiple bite wounds and released. She was later transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center to receive the rabies vaccine.

San Bernardino County Animal Control and the State Department of Fish and Game are searching for the animal.
