Suspected Child Predator Arrested In Sun Valley
LOS ANGELES
A previously deported felon has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least two children, Los Angeles police said.
Pedro Ortiz, 28, of North Hollywood, was arrested Tuesday while police investigated a report of sexual assault involving a 6-year-old child. Police say Ortiz rented an apartment next door to where the victim lives, befriended the child or the child's family, then sexually molested him.
Police say Ortiz sexually assaulted at least one other child, but no details of that assault were made available.
Ortiz once lived in the Panorama City and has used the names "Pete," Sadot Lopez and Andres Lopez. Authorities suspect Ortiz may have molested other children.
Ortiz was booked on suspicion of lewd acts on a child younger than 14.
Anyone with more information about Ortiz or other victims can contact Detective Karen Crawford or Lt. Alan Hamilton at the North Hollywood station at (818) 623-4045 or at (877) LAW-FULL.
