Police are searching for a man who fatally stabbed the estranged wife of a wealthy gold trader in the parking garage of a high-rise building in Century City.
Police say Pamela Fayed of Camarillo was stabbed repeatedly and had her throat cut last night in front of several witnesses.
Police say the suspect, described as a man in a black hooded sweatshirt, fled in a red sports utility vehicle.
Fayed was the estranged wife of James Fayed, who operated e-Bullion and Goldfinger Coin & Bullion Sales, which are Internet gold trading sites.
Court records obtained by the Los Angeles Times show James Fayed filed for divorce last October, and the couple had two children.
A friend told the Times that Pamela Fayed was afraid of her husband and considered building a "panic room" in her home.
