Authorities ID Woman Killed By SUV Near Church

VENICE Authorities Tuesday identified a woman who was killed when an SUV struck her and several other people as they were leaving a Venice church.

The accident took place at 1:15 p.m. Sunday outside the Catholic Church of St. Mark in the 900 block of Coeur d'Alene Avenue after a Father's Day Mass, Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Cecilia Abigail Castillo, 30, died at a hospital, Ed Winter of the coroner's office said.

The driver had reportedly turned to the back seat to assist her adult daughter, who was having an epileptic seizure, the Los Angeles Times reported.
