City Bans Sex Offenders From Living In Single Home

CARSON (AP) ― Community protests have led to a Carson City Council ban on placing more than one sex offender in a single residence.

The council's unanimous vote Tuesday night follows months of outrage following recent reports that more than a dozen sex offenders were living in the Carson Plaza Hotel and about 11 offenders in a duplex.

California voters in 2006 approved Jessica's Law to tighten restrictions on paroled sex offenders, prohibiting released offenders from living within ,000 feet of a school or park.

The law reportedly has prompted parole officers to cluster sex offenders in single locations outside restricted areas in the city.
