A second mistrial has been declared in the case of a father accused of murdering his 4-year-old daughter by throwing her off a cliff.
Jurors in Los Angeles announced Monday they were deadlocked on the case against Cameron Brown, with six jurors favoring second-degree murder and the other half supporting involuntary manslaughter.
The 47-year-old Brown was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Lauren Sarene Key in November 2000 in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Prosecutors say Brown killed his daughter because he didn't want to pay about $1,000 in monthly child support. Brown's defense attorney argued the girl slipped and fell 120 feet from Inspiration Point into the Pacific Ocean.
A mistrial was also declared when Brown was tried three years ago.
