Perservering Tennis Team Get New Shoes, Rackets
BUENA PARK, Calif. (CBS) ―
The Buena Park High School Varsity Girl's tennis team will head to the state playoffs with new rackets and tennis shoes, thanks to the generosity of their community.
The team will be the first in their school's history to make it to the CIF playoffs, despite the hand-me-down rackets they played in and regular, school shoes they played in.
When NewsCentral spotlighted the team, Buena Park High School's tennis coach, Suzan Uba, received a flood of calls and emails from people wanting to donate to the program.
The first of those donations will be by the Buena Park Lions Club, who will give the team new rackets and shoes at their first November meeting at the Knott Resort.
If you'd like to help support the team, you can make a donation by e-mailing sguba@fjuhsd.net.
