Report: Spears, Federline Settle Custody Dispute

LOS ANGELES Britney Spears has stopped fighting to regain shared custody of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, from ex-husband Kevin Federline, according to OK! magazine.

Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told the magazine that the ex-couple signed a settlement agreement Thursday, avoiding a trial over the issues in dispute.

Federline will retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James, while Spears will continue to have visitation rights, which may increase over time, according to the magazine.

The agreement will be presented for consideration this morning to Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon.

Spears remains under the legal conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears. She lost custody of her sons to Kevin last October. Her visitation privileges were curtailed after her January hospitalization for psychiatric evaluation.

Spears currently has monitored visitation with her sons two days a week and one overnight.
