Chief Bratton: I Won't Be London's Next Top Cop
LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles police chief William Bratton said he has no interest in becoming head of London's New Scotland Yard, it was reported
Sunday.
While in London last week attending a crime summit, Bratton met with
London Mayor Boris Johnson, who was impressed with L.A. top's cop, according to Britain's Sun newspaper, which also described Bratton as expressing an interest in running New Scotland Yard, reported the Los Angeles Daily News.
Bratton knocked down any possibilities of taking the London job while
greeting donors on the red carpet at a Los Angeles Police Foundation fundraiser at Paramount Studios Saturday.
London's Metropolitan Police Commissioner Ian Butler quit his post
Thursday after Johnson said new leadership, according to the Sun.
Bratton has been police chief in Los Angeles since October 2002 and
headed police departments in Boston and New York.
