The actress and singer Brandy could be in trouble over a December highway crash.
The Associated Press has learned the California Highway Patrol is recommending that she be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the crash, which killed a female motorist.
A city attorney's spokesman in Los Angeles told the AP that the highway patrol has referred the matter to the attorney's office for review. The spokesman said the office is looking into whether the evidence warrants the filing of the misdemeanor charge.
Brandy has publicly expressed condolences to the victim's family. A spokeswoman has said she wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
According to a police report, Brandy was driving a Land Rover last month when traffic slowed, and her vehicle struck the back of the other woman's car.
