Actor Among Those Arrested In Skid Row Sting

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Officials say actor Brad Renfro was arrested Thursday in an undercover sting operation after he allegedly tried to buy heroin near L.A.'s Skid Row area.

LAPD Detective Ron Hodges says the 23-year-old Renfro was booked for investigation of felony attempting to possess heroin. Hodges says Renfro attempted to buy real heroin from an undercover officer.

Hodges says Renfro was taken into custody during a random sting operation that resulted in the arrests of 14 other suspects.

The Knoxville, Tennessee, native was charged in 1998 with possession of cocaine and marijuana, but avoided jail time in a plea deal. Renfro's credits include "Ghost World," "Bully," "The Jacket" and "The Client."
