Riverside Boy, 16, Succumbs To Gunshot Wounds

RIVERSIDE

Johnny Macias won't live to see his 17th birthday.

The Riverside teen was shot in the chest Friday.

Macias clung to live for more than ten hours but finally succumbed to his wounds and was declared dead at 4:34 p.m. Saturday, according to authorities.

The shooting was reported near Diamond and Bunker streets at 5:08 a.m., said Riverside police Lt. Tim Bacon.

A confrontation with other unknown males preceded the shooting, Bacon said.

Macias underwent surgery and had been listed in critical condition, Bacon said.

Officers asked anyone with information to call Riverside police Detective Greg Rowe at (951) 353-7136.
