Northridge Girl, 15, Killed In Boating Accident

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. A Northridge woman was killed Saturday in a boating collision on the Colorado River, authorities said.

Lauren Taguchi, 15, was on a boat that crashed nearly head-on into another boat at about 11:30 a.m. near Riverside County's McIntyre Park, Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Ned Hyduke said.

The other boat was piloted by Ricky Scott Ledford of Las Vegas.

Ledford helped Taguchi to shore, but she was not responsive when deputies arrived at the park boat ramp, Hyduke said.

Taguchi was declared dead at Palo Verde Hospital.

Both vessels were towed and stored and the crash is under investigation.

Anyone with information about the accident can contact the Riverside Sheriff's Department's Colorado River Station at (760) 921-7900.
