Mistrial Declared In Ferrari Crash Case

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A mistrial was declared Friday in the Los Angeles fraud and grand theft trial of a Swedish businessman who wrecked a classic Ferrari sports car in a spectacular pre-dawn crash on Pacific Coast Highway last February.

Judge Patricia Schnegg declared the mistrial and dismissed the jury minutes after panelists told her they were deadlocked 10 to 2 in favor of convicting Bo Stefan Eriksson.

The jurors had deliberated just a little more than a day. They announced shortly after 11 a.m. that deliberations had broken down.

Eriksson was charged with two counts each of grand theft and fraudulent concealment with intent to defraud.

Prosecutors said he stopped making payments on and tried to hide two luxury sports cars he had borrowed millions of dollars to lease.
