Police searched today for a man who stabbed a Camarillo woman to death in the parking structure of a Century City high-rise office building.
Pamela Fayed, 44, had her throat cut in the garage at 1875 Century Park
East about 6:35 p.m. Monday, according to police and coroner's spokesman Ed Winter.
The suspect was described as a male in a black, hooded sweatshirt and
blue jeans who may have fled in a red sport utility vehicle, Los Angeles police said.
It was unclear if detectives recovered surveillance video of the vehicle.
"A female witness heard screaming in a parking structure and saw the
victim lying between two cars," Los Angeles police Officer Julianne Sohn said."She contacted police, and two doctors who happened to be there tried to render aid."
Witness Paul Almond said emergency workers were pumping the victim's
chest as she was taken from the parking structure's elevator to an ambulance.
She was declared dead at a hospital about 7:45 p.m.
"She was drenched in blood," said Almond, an attorney whose office is
in the adjacent building.
A man holding a blood-soaked shirt was handcuffed and questioned, but he was released once it was determined he was a physician who ran to the scene after the attack and tried to use his shirt to stop the blood flow, police said.
Almond said 50 or 60 office workers milled about in front of the building as the woman victim was taken away.
