Autopsy Pending On Body Found In Bellflower
BELLFLOWER, Calif.
An autopsy is pending on the body of a man that was discovered in the backyard of a Bellflower home on Monday afternoon.
The body was found around 4:45 p.m. in the 9800 block of Potter Street, near Liggett Street, according to Deputy Derrick Thompson of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
Authorities declared the man dead at the scene, Thompson said. The sheriff's department gave no indication of how he died.
The owner of the home -- an 85-year-old man -- had been missing for months, according to broadcast reports.
On Monday a neighbor asked deputies at the sheriff's Lakewood station to check the yard for the missing homeowner. After searching, they discovered a man's body "by the shed in the backyard under some towels, blankets, cardboard...," the neighbor told KCAL 9.
Authorities have not said whether the deceased man was the missing homeowner.
