Three suspected bank robbers were captured in Yorba Linda and may be the "WWF Shotgun" bandits who are believed to be behind robberies in Rowland Heights and the city of Industry.
The trio robbed First Bank, 18206 Imperial Highway just after 11 a.m., Brea police Lt. Peter Rodriguez said.
The robbers herded people into a corner and left with an unknown amount of cash. A witness saw three people in white jumpsuits wearing stocking masks, and all three were reported to be armed with shotguns, Rodriguez said.
At least one shotgun was recovered in a shopping area where the suspects changed vehicles from a van to a Land Rover, he said. The three got into a van, drove across Yorba Linda Boulevard to a shopping area known as the Packing House, where two of the men got into a dark Land Rover. The third man ran, but was quickly arrested, Rodriguez said.
Brea police officers followed the Land Rover. A passenger jumped out a Kraemer Boulevard and Bastanchury Road and was later found in a nearby residential garage and taken into custody.
The driver was arrested in Chino, Rodriguez said.
"We haven't gone through (the vehicle) yet and we don't know if the money is there," he said. "There were reports of items thrown from the vehicle, and we don't know if that was money or clothing."
