Woman Arrested In Connection With Baby Jane Doe
LOS ANGELES
Police have arrested a 22-year-old woman whom they believe to be the mother of a 6-month-old girl found crawling on a sidewalk near downtown Los Angeles.
Maria Teresa Claro was taken into custody in the 2700 block of West 8th Street at about 10 a.m., Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Jason Lee said.
The girl, called Baby Jane Doe, was found Monday.
A 2-year-old girl was removed from Claro's home and placed with the Department of Children and Family Services, police said. It was unclear whether that child, for whom Claro was caring, was her biological daughter.
Claro was booked on suspicion of felony child endangerment.
