Geragos Takes Japanese Businessman's Murder Case

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Celebrity attorney Mark Geragos says he has signed on to represent Japanese businessman Kazuyoshi Miura, who is accused of killing his wife during a visit to Los Angeles in the 1980s.

Geragos tells The Associated Press his first order of business will be trying to get the charges dismissed on grounds of double jeopardy.

Miura, 60, was convicted of his wife's murder in Japan in the 1990s but the case was overturned on appeal.

Geragos said Saturday he believes that precludes his client from being tried again in the U.S.

Miura said he and his wife were vacationing in Los Angeles in 1981 when robbers shot her in the head. She died a year later.
