Hit-And-Run Driver Strikes 17-Year-Old In Artesia
ARTESIA, Calif.
A 17-year-old boy has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding a bicycle in Artesia, authorities said.
The victim and two other males were riding their bicycles southbound on Elaine Street near South Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night when an older red Honda compact that was driving north on Elaine Street sideswiped the back of the victim's bicycle, causing him to hit the pavement, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy told an On Scene Video camera crew at the scene.
The driver did not stop and authorities believe that it is likely the Honda has visible front-end damage.
The victim was transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Lt. Minh Dinh of the sheriff's Lakewood Station.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information on the hit-and-run driver is asked to call the sheriff's Lakewood Station at (562) 866-9061.
