Pellicano Says He Didn't Lead Criminal Enterprise

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Indicted Hollywood private eye Anthony Pellicano says he was a lone ranger while gathering information for his clients and did not lead a criminal enterprise as prosecutors alleged at his racketeering trial.
In his brief closing argument Wednesday, Pellicano said he was effective in solving problems for clients, but didn't share any information gained through his investigations with colleagues.

Pellicano is acting as his own attorney in the case.

He has pleaded not guilty to spearheading a scheme that used wiretaps and ran names through law enforcement databases to dig up dirt for clients to use in legal disputes.

Four co-defendants also pleaded not guilty to a variety of charges.
