The company is paying a $1 million fine for dropping 2,300 people after they submitted bills for medical care.

Anthem Blue Cross -- California's largest for-profit health insurer, is paying a $1 million fine and offering new coverage to more than 2,300 people dropped after bills for expensive medical care were submitted.
It's part of a deal being announced Wednesday in Los Angeles by the California Department of Insurance.
The Wellpoint subsidiary will also offer to reimburse medical expenses to the people dropped by Anthem Blue Cross. Those reimbursements could reach $14 million.
