Authorities say a fire has severely damaged an Orange County soup kitchen that serves 10,000 meals a month.
Capt. Chris Caswell of the Santa Ana Fire Department says a blaze was reported just before midnight at the Annie Mae Tripp Community Center and Hospitality Kitchen. It burned food and clothing before firefighters doused it shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
No one was in the center at the time and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The kitchen is named for a mother of seven who began feeding the homeless out of her garage in 1970.
