Authorities Seize 130 Pets From Hemet Mobile Home
Owner Faces Charges Of Neglect And Cruelty
HEMET, Calif. (AP) ―
Riverside County authorities have seized 130 dogs and cats from a home and the woman who owns them could face charges of neglect and animal cruelty.
Animal control officers acting on a tip went to a mobile home near Hemet yesterday. Authorities say the animals they found there were living in squalor and the home smelled of urine.
The owner operates a pet rescue and adoption service. She contends the animals had good treatment, including air conditioning.
Authorities say the animals will be kept in a shelter until the case is resolved.
