A Los Angeles juror suspected of misconduct in the sex-assault trial that convicted fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander last year has invoked the Fifth Amendment.
Alvin Dymally took the stand Friday at a hearing and declined to answer questions about whether he contacted the designer's sister during the trial.
The hearing is an effort to get a new trial for Alexander, who was convicted of 14 counts including forcible rape. Prosecutors say he lured aspiring models to Los Angeles and sexually assaulted them.
Defense attorneys last month revealed an audio tape they say proves the juror spoke with their client's sister during the trial.
The juror previously testified he didn't contact the sister before verdicts were reached in November.
The tape is to be analyzed by the FBI.
