Cessna Crashes Near Big Bear Airport

BIG BEAR CITY, Calif. (AP) ― A small plane has crashed into a residential area near the Big Bear airport in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Cessna 172 came down between two houses shortly after noon Wednesday.

The pilot, identified as Audra Kramer, suffered only minor injuries including cuts to her face and hands. She also says she has pain in her neck.

KCAL 9's Greg Mills reported from outside Loma Linda Medical Center that the pilot, the only person on board, was in good condition. No one was injured on the ground.

Mills also reports that Kramer did a "great job picking her spot" not causing any significant damage to any property on the ground.

Gregor says the plane had tried to land at the Big Bear airport but wind blew her off course.

The plane struck power lines as it crashed, but there was no fire.
